Tenthredo (Tenthredina) nubipennis Malaise, 1945, holotype
Original description: Malaise, R. 1945: Tenthredinoidea of South-Eastern Asia with a general zoogeographical review. - Opuscula Entomologica, Lund Suppl. 4:191 (in key), pl. Xa.
"Postocellar area subquadrate, hardly wider than it is long (Plate X a); as head with distinct, scattered punctures above. Scutellum obtusely, roundly elevated. Circumocellar furrows complete, and with 3 shallow pockets directed downwards from it. Middle fovea wanting. Mesothorax and especially mesonotum with distinct, rather strong, scattered punctures. Antennae as long as head and thorax combined, joints 3 and 4 as 5:3. Colour uncertain [The unique type-specimen is reddish brown, but the yellow and possibly also the black markings may have vanished owing to earlier influence of putrefaction, mould or moisture. On the other hand, as the type is in good condition, it may still retain the actual colour], reddish brown with (?) yellow markings. Length 16.5 mm. (1 ♀). China (Prov. Kiukiang).
Type locality: Mt. Ruling *T. (T-ina) nubipennis n. sp. (Plate Xa)."
The images were made in 2008 at the NHRS with an Olympus DP70 camera and a SZX12 microscope. Composite images with an extended depth of field were created from stacks of images using the software CombineZ5.3, and finally arranged and partly enhanced with Ulead PhotoImpact X3.
