Supplemental Figure 3.
Proportions of negative, positive and non-responders according with renal (RVR) or leg (LVR) vascular resistance responses to mental stress (panel A), and the individual data showing the responder type pattern (panel B). Participants were classified as concordant or discordant if their RVR and LVR response patterns were similar or divergent, respectively. The proportions of RVR and LVR responder type (panel A) were analyzed using 2 × 3 Fisher’s exact test. Participants were further grouped as (1) typically negative responders if the LVR and RVR responses to mental stress were consistently below (i.e., negative) or within (non-responders) baseline variability, or non-responsive in one variable and negative in the other; (2) mixed responders if the response in one variable was positive and the other was negative; and (3) typically positive responders if the responses were consistently positive or non-responsive in one variable and positive in the other. Changes in mean arterial pressure (MAP) during mental stress between groups according to the combination of leg (LVR) and renal (RVR) vascular resistance responder-types are shown in panel C. Data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA followed by an LSD post-hoc test.
