Three types of system--managing the compositions of livestock herds (and flocks), the locations of livestock herds (and flocks), and the production and distribution flows of dairy products, respectively--operate simultaneously at three different respective scales to maintain a social-ecological panarchy in southeast Amdo, Tibet in western China. The operations of each system are described in its associated Attentive Maintenance Model. The entire Panarchical Model is interdependent, with sets of smaller systems sustaining larger systems and larger systems creating new social networks and resilience for those smaller systems.
