Rates of cell death induced by the candidate pathogenic proteins.
The rates of cell death induced by candidate molecules with (A) and without SPs (B) are presented graphically. The degree of symptoms after infiltration was monitored visually and categorized into two classes: Cell death (black bar) and no cell death (white bar). The proportions of cell death in parentheses were analyzed statistically using Fisher’s exact test (** p < 0.01, * p < 0.05). Asterisks indicate a significant increase in cell death induced by each of the 10 candidate pathogenic proteins compared with the GFP-only vector control. SP, secretory signal peptide.
