Outermost Attentive Maintenance Model
This attentive maintenance model depicts the observation-action sequences that nomads in southeast Amdo, Tibet in western China use to manage the production and distribution of dairy products. Their observation-action sequences cluster into three groupings by frequency: those that track ecological cycles, those that follow on stochastic social events, and those that cause accrual based on personal sentiment. Two processes that Ekvall (1968:82) observed in the early 20th century were not detected in thirteen interviews from 2018 and 2019 that we analyzed for information about the late 20th century.
