Abstract This article questions the portrayal of reading in Adriana Lunardi's fiction, especially in the short stories from the book Vésperas (2002) and in the novel A vendedora de fósforos (2011). By means of her literary dialogues, Lunardi (re)creates lineages and establishes a genealogy for her own fiction, aiming to activate certain themes with the intent of thinking about the act of writing itself.
