Universal Everything is a UK-based multimedia collective integrating new media technologies with the responses of the human body to space and movement. Large scale video works were presented at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, including a number of interactive works. Lighting design for the project involved creating a welcoming space with splashes of colour referencing the video works and use of more saturated colour than might normally be found in an exhibition of this nature. Dynamic coloured light was used to punctuate the space, working in collaboration with the exhibition designer, Anita Gigi, and applying principles of colour theory to the audience’s journey through the show. Practical elements including LED neon were incorporated to increase lighting dynamics and respond playfully to the video content in the exhibtion.
