This attentive maintenance model depicts the observation-action sequences that nomads in southeast Amdo, Tibet in western China use to manage the compositions of their herds and flocks of livestock. Their observation-action sequences cluster into three groupings by frequency: those that track ecological cycles, those that follow on stochastic social events, and those that cause accrual based on personal sentiment.
