Improved resolution in sea surface temperature field (SST CCI Analysis)

Magnitude of horizontal SST gradients on 1 January 2006, over the region 55°W to 85°W and 20°N to 45°N, covering the Gulf Stream. Top panel: SST CCI Analysis Lower panel: MyOcean OSTIA Re-analysis (Roberts-Jones et al., 2012). Both products have the same grid resolution of 0.05°.
