Hypothetical host phylogenetic dispersion patterns of multi-host parasites
p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 8.0px Times}
Hypothetical patterns of infected host phylogenetic relationships and potential causal mechanisms. Trees represent a phylogeny of potential host species, with grey shading indicating uninfected hosts and black shading indicating hosts infected by a multihost pathogen. Clustered hosts indicate hosts that are more closely related than expected, while overdispersed hosts are more distantly related than expected. MPD (Mean Pairwise Distance): compares mean of all observed host pairwise distances to null expectations. NTD (Nearest Taxon Distance): compares minimum observed host pairwise distance to null expectations.
