The Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Education Committee strives to make remotely sensed data accessible and meaningful to educators. Over the years, ESIP Education has pursued numerous science literacy initiatives, including an annual teacher workshop co-located at ESIP summer meetings, which rotates around the country. These are complimented by presentations at regional meetings of the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) and professional conferences like the American Geophysical Union (AGU) or the American Meteorological Society (AMS). We are gradually building a national presence.

In 2016, ESIP Education launched a recreational drone initiative! This popular topic resulted in an invitation from the EarthEducators Rendezvous (EER) to offer a 3 half-day session in New Mexico in 2017.

Also in 2017, ESIP Education launched the “Out 2 Lunch” webinar series featuring 10 minute demonstrations of cool Earth Science data tools and resources. Six topics were presented. Recorded versions of the succinct talks available on YouTube indicate over 200 views, with the upcoming August Eclipse garneringthe greatest viewership.

Clearly, ESIP Education IS making data matter!
