Dialect Coach for 'The Heartbreak Choir' (Auckland Theatre Company): Directed by Lara Macgregor

The New Zealand/ Aotearoa premiere production of The Heartbreak Choir by Aidan Fennessy was part of the Auckland Theatre Company (ATC) mainstage season in 2023. It played in the ASB Waterfront Theatre in Auckland from the 14th of February to the 4th of March 2023 to wide acclaim. The Heartbreak Choir was originally commissioned with the assistance of Melbourne Theatre Company's NEXT STAGE Writers' Program and was first produced by Melbourne Theatre Company in 2022. The 2023 ATC production was directed by Lara Macgregor, and featured a New Zealand cast: Dave Fane, Alison Quigan QSM, Munashe Tapfuya, Joie Dorday, Kate Louise Elliot, Levi Kereama, and Esmay August. The Musical Director was Jason Te Mete, Assistant Director was Keagan Carr Fransch, Production Designer was Sean Coyle, Sound Designer was Andrew Furness, and Lighting Designer was Phillip Dexter MSc. My role was to support the director and actors with Dialect Design, and coach the actors to realise their characters' accents.
