<p>The cytopathic behavior of <i>E. histolytica</i> trophozoites and <i>E. coli</i> in different combinations, including WT (wild type, no bacterial exposure) trophozoites (n = 7), enteropathogenic <i>E. coli</i> O55 only (n = 10), as well as trophozoites incubated with enteropathogenic <i>E. coli</i> O55 (n = 10), dead <i>E. coli</i> O55 (n = 7), and nonpathogenic <i>E. coli</i> K12 (n = 7), was assessed and compared based on their ability to destroy a monolayer of HeLa cells.
