Do you know why snow is so white and bright? Well it's because snow is a really good reflector, but rather than reflecting it like a mirror, it scatters the light. What you see is light from lots of directions being bounced out randomly When I throw a snowball I am just trying to help people appreciate the physics, close up PAF
