data. Religious metacognition
Religious and moral metacognition involves individuals’ reflective awareness of their cognitive processes in religion and ethics. Given their fundamental role in shaping human cognition and behavior, this study aimed to investigate the predictive relationship between religious and moral metacognition on the construction of meaning in life among university students. Employing a correlational and predictive design, we sampled 207 students from the University of Birjand using a cluster random sampling method. Participants completed the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (Steger et al., 2006), the Moral Metacognition Scale (McMahon & Good, 2016), and the Religious Metacognition Scale (Salarifar, 2022). Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Findings revealed a significant positive association between both religious and moral metacognition and meaning in life.
