This study investigated the genetic structure and population dynamics of Pometia pinnata in a 20-hectare tropical seasonal rainforest plot, Nabanhe, located in Xishuangbanna, China. The research examined 988 individuals across four life stages (Adults, Sapling I, Sapling II, and Seedlings), based on Diameter-at-breast-height, with an elevation gradient of 821.4m to 1043m, using seven microsatellite markers for genetic analysis. The study explored how historical bottlenecks and contemporary ecological factors shaped the species' genetic structure. Results suggests the population expanded from the valley region in the eastern part of the plot, where younger trees likely persisted after logging. The study used multiple approaches including genetic diversity analysis, spatial genetic structure assessment, parentage analysis, and demographic history reconstruction using DIYABC.
