Drug-associated hearing impairment in children
Our study focuses on the potential risks of drug-associated hearing impairment in children, a significant public health concern that lacks large-scale, population-based research. By analyzing reports from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS), you conducted a disproportionality analysis using the proportional reporting ratio (PRR) and reporting odds ratio (ROR) to identify medications associated with hearing impairment in children. Additionally, you compared these findings with existing drug labels, discovering that nearly half of the medications with potential safety signals did not list hearing impairment as a side effect in pediatric use. This study highlights the need for further investigation to improve drug safety and awareness in pediatric populations.
