The dataset was collected as part of the Department of Forest Research and Survey's annual program in 2018, with the objective of developing local volume tables for Shorea robusta. The dataset comprises information from 81 sample trees, spanning various Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) classes. The data collection followed a destructive sampling approach, allowing for comprehensive measurements. Recorded tree characteristics encompassed tree height, DBH (over-bark), crown height, geographical coordinates, and sectional diameters and heights. The stem sections were measured from the base to diameter measuring points at multiple sections along the stem.

Some variables include:

  • tree_id - Unique id for each tree sampled
  • location - name of place
  • species - local name for Shorea robusta (sal)
  • UTM - Zone
  • dbh - diameter at breast height (cm)
  • Ht - total height (m)
  • Hx - height at diffferent sections (m)
  • Dx - Diameter at different sections (cm)
