A novel dimolybdenum complex, [Mo2(iPrL′)2(C6H6)] (1C6H6), has been synthesized and characterized as a benzene-ring-bridged dimolybdenum complex with a cis-μ-η2(1,2):η2(4,5) binding mode. Complex 1C6H6 reacts with MeMgBr to form 2, where μ-benzene is methylated to form μ-xylene.
