Course notes for a seven week plant breeding and genetics course entitled "Selection theory and methods" given at Cornell University in the fall of 2016. The objective of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to design effective and sustainable breeding programs and implement modern selection tools. Topics covered include: 1. foundational quantitative and population genetics concepts, 2. selection theory, and 3. breeding value estimation. These notes are still being improved and updated.
