A member of the gut microbiota, Citrobacter freundii is a facultative anaerobic Gram-negative bacterium that also inhabits the soil, water and other environmental matrixes. Able to cause nosocomial infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract and blood of humans, C. freundii has received attention as an emerging opportunistic pathogen of humans. This work sought to provide fundamental information about the native proteome of this bacterium. Using an in-house MATLAB proteome analysis software, the UniProt proteome of C. freundii complex sp CFNIH9 was parsed to yield a proteome database comprising protein name, amino acid sequence, number of residues, molecular weight and nucleotide sequence of protein. Overall, the presented proteome database should provide guidance on the proteomic repertoire of C. freundii for understanding its multifaceted roles in mediating different processes in the human gastrointestinal tract and in disease.
