Nocturnality of 29 mammal detections from 1897 camera traps within the Camera-trapping Network for the Mountains of Southwest China and corresponding environmental variables.

Species: common name for detected species

PA_ID: ID of the protected areas where the species is detected

Date: date of the detection

Time: clock time of the detection

sunTime: relative solar time of the detection

Nocturnality: nocturnality index of the detection

HM: human modification index at the camera location

PA: whether the camera is located inside (PA = 1) or outside (PA = 0) PAs

PA_HM: interaction term between PA and HM

JulianDate & JulianDate2: count of consecutive days since the start of each year and its quadratic term

LST: land surface temperature

ELE: elevation
