This prospective single-center study, investigated risk and protective factors for postpartum depression (PPD) in Polish women. A total of 311 participants completed two self-designed questionnaires on PPD risk factors after delivery and again 4 weeks postpartum. Additional tools included the Edinburg Postnatal Depression Scale, Immune Power Personality Questionnaire, and Walsh Family Resilience Questionnaire. Identified predictors of PPD included prior depressive episodes, family history of depression, use of antidepressants, preterm delivery risk, and postpartum anxiety about the child's health, breastfeeding, and sleep problems. Protective factors included physical activity, financial satisfaction, and sufficient sleep. The study highlights the potential of the two self-designed questionnaires for effective PPD screening in the Polish population.
