This database contains two separate datasets, each presenting data on the textile anatomy of garment samples from the post-industrial-pre consumer retail mass market (RMM) and the post-consumer textile waste market (PCTWM). Each dataset contains data on each garment’s fibre composition, finding presence, and layer presence, while the PCTWM dataset offers additional information on the composition of linings, the type of findings, and the placement of findings on the sampled garments. In sum, this data set offers insight into the textile anatomy of more than 5,000 garment samples from the Nordic Region in 2022 (RMM - DK and PCTWM - SE). Each sample may be analyzed individually, by category or fiber type, within each dataset. While comparisons can be made between datasets, please note the additional granularity in the PCTWM dataset. Each dataset can be found under the corresponding sheet name. Fibre names and numbers are reported in accordance with EU labeling guidelines [1], a table for your reference is available in the sheet "EU_FIBRE". Textile categories are defined following EU common nomenclature (CN) guidelines for imports and exports [2], a table of these groupings is provided in the sheet "EU_CN". This data is related to the research article [3].
