ABSTRACT Based upon the theoretical-methodological support of the sociology of discourse by the Bakhtin Circle (BAKHTIN, 2016; VOLÓCHINOV, 2017), especially concerning the notion of expressiveness, in dialogue with the glotopolitical approach (GUESPIN, MARCELLESI, 1986), this paper aims at raising some reflections on the language practices within school signs. We take into account the context of internationalization at a technological federal institute in order to understand through a discursive-dialogical view what are the glotopolitical effects implied into practices of this nature. It is assumed that those practices act as a political intervetion towards the school linguistic landscape (SPOLSKY, 2004), and therefore, being the result of choices not randomly taken, decisions made previously, that with regard to the material analized, shows the option by which languages are to be selected to make part of the shool signs at that institution, as well as the priority order regarding the way they tend to be inscribed on the signs under analysis.
