IS executives and sustainability: Literature review coding outcomes
To find relevant literature, we searched the AIS Senior Scholar’s List of Premier Journals and the MIS Quarterly Executive journal. Additionally, we systematically queried the proceedings of the top IS conferences: the International, Asia Pacific, European, and American Conferences on Information Systems (ICIS, PACIS, ECIS, and AMCIS), for which we used AIS eLibrary.
In April 2024, we submitted the search string defined in the attached Excel file (sheet 1: Search String).
We predefined a specific set of inclusion (IC) and exclusion (EC) criteria:
- (Inclusion) Articles written in English that were published after 2007
- (Exclusion) Articles that do not map to any of the seventeen SDGs
- (Exclusion) Articles that do not target non-IS executives
- (Exclusion) The research findings do not elucidate the role of or the implications for IS executives
- (Exclusion) Articles that report on research in progress
After these filtering steps, 27 articles remained. Then, for- and backward reference search was conducted to ensure a comprehensive coverage of relevant literature from the predefined sources. The final count of articles is 31. The coding results are available in the attached Excel file:
- SDG Categorization: Author, type of publication (journal = J, conference = C), article title, publication year, sustainability development goals 1 through 17
- Descriptive summary: Author, publication type (Journal = J, , Conference = C), Title, publication year, Methodology (CON = Conceptual, MM = Mixed Method, QL = Qualitative, QN = Quantitative", Reference to IS executives (Direct (D), Indirect (I))
- IMO Framework Mapping: Author, Title, YYYY, Hypothesis, Status, Category, Input:What, SDGOutcome
