An understanding of microbiome temporal variability is crucial for translating any associations of the microbiome with health and disease into clinical practice. The aim of this study is to assess the degree of temporal variability of the human urinary microbiota. A pair of catheterized or mid-stream urine specimens were collected from study participants 3–40 months apart. DNA was extracted and bacterial 16S rRNA gene V4 hypervariable region sequenced on Illumina MiSeq platform.
