Data from: Testolin R, Attorre F, Jimenéz-Alfaro B. 2020. Global distribution and bioclimatic characterization of alpine biomes. Ecography 43: 779-788.

The repository contains:
1) Sample of the Google Earth Engine script used for extracting unforested areas;
2) Sample of the R script used to model treeline elevation using quantile regression and extract alpine areas;
3) Means and standard deviations of treeline elevations of global mountain ranges;
4) Spatial layer (ESRI Shapefile, EPSG 4326) of the distribution of global alpine ecosystems at 30m resolution (v1.0);
5) Spatial layer (ESRI Shapefile, EPSG 4326) of the distribution of global alpine ecosystems at 1km resolution, split by climatic cluster and ecoregion.

UPDATE 14/1/2022
6) Updated spatial layer (ESRI Shapefile, EPSG 4326) of the distribution of global alpine ecosystems at 30m resolution with continents, mountain names and areas information (v1.1).
