Fractional vegetation cover (FVC), represents the planar fraction of the land surface covered by green foliage. FVC is an important vegetation biophysical parameter and a controlling factor in transpiration, photosynthesis, global climate change and other terrestrial processes, geochemical cycles, and climate models. Measures of FVC are widely used to monitor vegetation quality and ecosystem change.

Clumping Index (CI) is a quantitative measure used to describe the degree to which objects or entities are aggregated or clustered together. It is commonly used in various scientific fields to analyze patterns of distribution.

This product developed based on this DSCOVR EPIC VESDR product which has 10km spatial resolution. FVC and CI estimated together. After local validation over yellow river delta area in China, the accuracy was determined to be 71%. For now, we only shared FVC and CI product in May and July. The rest products are ongoing.
