Caulobacter crescentus is a Gram-negative single celled bacterium with a dimorphic life cycle not common in Bacteria. Specifically, the cell undergoes asymmetric cell division to produce a swimmer cell and one sessile cell at each cell cycle. The swimmer cell would swim for some distance prior to secreting a biological glue that helps adhere the cell to a surface. Such life cycle and its unique crescent cell shape are reasons why the bacterium remains an interesting object of study in many fields of biological research. This work sought to provide fundamental information about the genetic repertoire of Caulobacter crescentus NA1000 by parsing its annotated genome sequence downloaded from Genbank. Comprising gene name, gene function, and gene sequence of all genes in the bacterium’s genome, the resource should find use in functional genomics study for understanding the genes responsible for particular steps of this bacterium’s interesting life cycle.
