The data is collected as part of a project titled Countering Violent Extremism by Unraveling The Propaganda and Recruitment Techniques of ISIS in Turkey. The project was funded by a grant provided to the Global Policy and Strategy Institute from the U.S. State Department through the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

The data were collected in early 2016 through face-to-face interviews with 1,609 individuals. Multi-stage stratified randomized sampling based on NUTS 2, which divides Turkey into 26 subregions. A 64-item survey was administered between February 12, 2016, and April 11, 2016, in 26 randomly selected provinces.
