This Data Descriptor paper examines water quality in the Bojonegoro region, specifically within the Surabaya-Lamongan Groundwater Basin (SLGB). Sampling was conducted at three locations: a public service area, a settlement, and an agricultural area. The research aims to assess the impact of land use, geological conditions, and hydrogeology on groundwater quality.

Water samples were collected from 2017 to 2022, during both wet and dry seasons, resulting in a comprehensive dataset consisting of 1091 lines of data. The samples were analyzed for various chemical parameters, including phosphate, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, sulphate, fluoride, cadmium, zinc, iron, copper, chloride, total chromium, manganese, total dissolved solids (TDS), turbidity, temperature, pH, and hardness. The findings indicate that most parameters meet the drinking water standards set by the Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023. However, elevated levels of phosphate, ammonia, and nitrate were observed, particularly in the agricultural area, suggesting potential agricultural runoff.

The measurements were conducted to monitor and understand groundwater quality trends over time, identify potential sources of contamination, and provide scientific data to support sustainable groundwater management practices. This is particularly important as contamination phenomena, such as elevated levels of phosphate and nitrate, can affect shallow groundwater used by the public for drinking and domestic purposes. The study also highlights the lithological characteristics of the basin, which is dominated by loose deposits of soil, clay, and sand. These layers play crucial roles in groundwater storage and transmission, with clay layers acting as barriers to flow. Hydrogeological measurements reveal low transmissivity values, explaining the localized distribution of groundwater contamination.

This research provides valuable insights into groundwater quality and the factors affecting it in the Surabaya-Lamongan Groundwater Basin, emphasizing the need for sustainable groundwater management practices.
