This dataset contains video and photographic data from our article entitled "A high-altitude population of Hyperboreomyzon polaris (Hirudinea: Glossiphoniidae) in Altai Mountains, South Siberia, Russia" (Eliseeva et al., 2024 in Systematic Parasitology; https://doi.org/10.1007/s11230-024-10169-w). In particular, we present a series of movies (Movie 1-6), showing behavior and markings pattern of living individuals of Hyperboreomyzon polaris under natural and laboratory conditions for the first time. Moreover, photographs of historical and recently collected specimens of this enigmatic species from the Altai Mts., South Siberia could be downloaded here. The historical samples were collected in 1901 and are deposited in the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences [abbreviation: ZIN], Saint Petersburg, Russia. The recent samples were collected in 2023 and are deposited in the Russian Museum of Biodiversity Hotspots [abbreviation: RMBH], N. Laverov Federal Center for Integrated Arctic Research of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Arkhangelsk, Russia.
