This article reports on research into the contributors to spiritual formation among Australian University of Theology (AUT) students during their college experience. Spiritual formation, defined as the holistic transformative process of growth into the likeness of Christ, is a key goal of theological education. This study built on previous research through a survey of 2023 AUT graduates. Using a mixed-methods approach, an anonymous online survey collected both quantitative and qualitative data on the impact of various college experiences on students' spiritual formation. Key contributors identified include personal Scripture reading, completing spiritual formation-focused subjects, engaging in assessment tasks, relational connections with lecturers, exposure to differing perspectives, and engaging with college learning materials. The findings underscore the importance of intentional curriculum design, relational engagement, and diverse perspectives in fostering spiritual formation. Recommendations for theological colleges include emphasizing engagement with Scripture, offering spiritual formation units, and designing assessments and learning materials that promote reflection and practical application.
