This data set includes daily, population-weighted mean values of various heat metrics for every county in the contiguous United States from 2000-2020. The dataset methodology, usage notes, and additional citations are published in Scientific Data (see reference below for Spangler et al. [2022]). Minimum, maximum, and mean ambient temperature, dew-point temperature, humidex, heat index, net effective temperature, wet-bulb globe temperature, and Universal Thermal Climate Index are included. Note that Monroe County, Florida (FIPS: 12087) and Nantucket County, Massachusetts (FIPS 25019) are missing due to unavailability of ERA5-Land data for Key West, Florida and Nantucket, MA.

To use these data, assign the data from the .Rds file to a new data frame in R using the readRDS() function.
