This research aimed to assess genetic diversity and identify appropriate heterotic groups among 376 elite early-maturing white maize inbred lines using DArTseq technology. The study revealed a high level of genetic diversity within the population, with significant genetic differentiation among sub-populations. Based on genetic distance and clustering analysis, three distinct heterotic groups were identified, providing a valuable framework for developing new hybrid combinations with improved performance and adaptability in sub-Saharan Africa.
