Land-atmosphere interactions mitigate the direct surface drying effects induced by land use and cover change

This repository contains the code and scripts used for analyzing the impact of land use and cover change (LUCC) on global soil moisture (SM) through land-atmosphere interactions. The analysis integrates data-driven approaches and coupled Earth system models to investigate the mechanisms regulating surface (0–10 cm) soil moisture over the past century.
