<p dir="ltr">This dataset contains bibliography of published scientific and grey literature of relevance to study tobacco-related public policy in India over time. It has a total of 272 documents published over 1924-2023 period providing commentary about tobacco-related policy/issues starting from the early 17th century till early 21st century period. </p><p dir="ltr">This bibliography was produced as part of a scoping review to map tobacco-related public policies in India since the arrival/spread of tobacco in India. Documents were sourced through systematic searches using keywords related to tobacco and policy in the two major social science databases: the EBSCO Host, and JSTOR. This scoping review was part of a broader research initiative titled, DRITHI (Developing Research and Action Capacities to Counter Harm Industries) - a historical comparative public policy study across the four psychoactive substances (tobacco, alcohol, cannabis and opium). </p><p dir="ltr">The search for literature was limited to time period of 1600-2024 and to English language. SS and AN independently reviewed titles and abstracts of all sourced documents for their inclusion/exclusion in the review. They developed consensus on inclusion/exclusion decision and the documents, where consensus could not be achieved, were referred to UB for the final decision.</p><p dir="ltr">Our sole intention of publishing this bibliography is that it may be of help to other researchers/actors interested in tobacco related policy/issues in India. </p>
