Sometimes adults have complex health and social care needs and require extra support. This support can be provided by social care services. Social care services help people to maintain independence and well-being. People who provide social care services to adults are called Adult Social Workers. They can support people by helping to understand their needs and planning their care.
However, we do not know how much contact with Adult Social Workers is needed to help improve health and social care needs for people. Contact could be a visit or a telephone call. To find out, we will conduct an 'evidence synthesis'. This is a research method which brings together existing research studies to produce an answer. In this study, we aim to answer the following question.
What are the effects of adult social workers' contact on the quality of life, well-being, and other key outcomes of adults using social care services?
We will speak to people with lived experience of social care and social work to help to understand the research studies. Our results will use evidence from the synthesis and from people with lived experience. We will share our results and develop practical recommendations for adult social services.
