Numerical Comparison of GOE-387 and GOE-5K Airfoils Performance.pdf
In this research, the performance of two airfoil models, GOE-387 and GOE-5K, under different angles of attack at a Reynolds number of 3×105 was compared using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of two-dimensional subsonic flow. The aim of this study was to determine the appropriate application and position of each airfoil and to identify the most suitable airfoil. In this report, the pressure distribution, pressure coefficient (CP), lift force (FL), and drag force (FD) were calculated and compared for both airfoils to determine the angle of attack at which the maximum lift force is obtained with the minimum drag force.
The geometry of the abovementioned airfoils was created in the COMSOL Multiphysics 5.6 design modeling software. The CFD analysis was performed in COMSOL Multiphysics for angles of attack ranging from -15° to +15°.
