Model and datasets from model runs to guide rapid scaling of innovations in sustainability higher education.
This simulation model was designed to help users understand the dynamics of the propagation of educational innovations. It is a system dynamics model that can be run using the freely available Vensim model reader software (https://vensim.com/vensim-model-reader/) and used to guide strategies to make propagation efforts more successful. We build on the well-established Bass model of innovation diffusion, adding community-based propagation and enabling users to test word-of-mouth, outreach, and community-based propagation strategies for scaling educational innovations. Data files for a baseline (word-of-mouth alone), outreach, community-based propagation, and outreach with community-based propagation are also provided for download here. See the file entitled 'Instructions for loading model runs.docx' for more details on how to load prior model runs. An online interactive version of the model is also available here: https://exchange.iseesystems.com/public/florian-kapmeier/sustainability-education-propagation-simulator.
