<p dir="ltr">This report aims to provide a clear, contemporary understanding of biodiversity in Knox, a municipality of 114 km² on the eastern fringe of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The report covers what species and ecosystems exist (or once existed), where biodiversity is concentrated, what threatens and sustains biodiversity, and what Knox City Council and the community can do to protect, restore and improve biodiversity.Volume 1 (163 pp.) contains non-site-specific information and recommendations. Volume 2 (707 pp.; https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.28665356) contains detailed information about each of 117 sites of conservation significance. </p><p dir="ltr">Included in the Volume 1 are:</p><ul><li>An inventory of reliably-recorded species (other than microbes);</li><li>A ‘Red List’ assessment of each indigenous vascular plant species’ risk of dying out in the municipality;</li><li>An overview of the 117 Sites of Biological Significance and how they were assessed under the Victorian Government’s <i>‘Standard Criteria for Sites of Biological Significance in Victoria’</i>;</li><li>An assessment of the range of issues affecting survival of wild, indigenous flora, fauna and communities in Knox; and</li><li>General recommendations for enhancing conservation of flora and fauna in Knox.</li></ul><p></p>
