ATLAS AGRICOLA DEL PROGRAMA ALTÉPETL BIENESTAR
Mexico City's Conservation Land is a symbol of biodiversity and agrobiodiversity. In this space, peri-urban agricultural activities oriented towards agroecological production are carried out in areas that have proven to be resilient in the face of the city's constant urban expansion. The Government of Mexico City has supported producers in these areas through the Altépetl Bienestar program.
This document aims to provide information on the impact of this program on agricultural production in the city. There were 166 crops supported by the Altépetl Bienestar program in seven municipalities that are part of the Suelo de Conservación. These supports covered a total of 11,618 hectares. The program has demonstrated that public policies are a key factor for the conservation of agrobiodiversity in Mexico City.
