Poster created in 2015 for Swansea University College of Science Away Day event to highlight the advantages of imaging tephra (volcanic ash) grains in 3D over conventional 2D optical analysis.
***correction of the start of the first paragraph:
"First developed by Hounsfield (1973 for use in medicine, x-ray computed tomography (XRCT) is now used in a wide range of applications including those in geoscience. It was first used by Renter (1989) to study sedimentary rocks." ***
