What is ignorance and what is malpractice? Drawing a responsible line.

This is a piece I wrote within an ethics course. I was interested in trying to distinguish what choices could be deemed ignorant, and what choices could be deemed careless, and therefore malpractical from a researcher's perspective.

This is a very gray subject area, and this piece is meant to provoke thought, which is why references are lacking. The style is therefore also more informal.
