Vanadocene-Mediated Ionization of Water in the Aqua Species [H<sub>2</sub>O·B(C<sub>6</sub>F<sub>5</sub>)<sub>3</sub>]:  Structural Characterization of the Hydride and Hydroxide Complexes [Cp<sub>2</sub>V(μ-H)B(C<sub>6</sub>F<sub>5</sub>)<sub>3</sub>] and [Cp<sub>2</sub>V(μ-OH)B(C<sub>6</sub>F<sub>5</sub>)<sub>3</sub>]

The reaction of Cp<sub>2</sub>V with B(C<sub>6</sub>F<sub>5</sub>)<sub>3</sub> in the presence of water leads to the hydride complex [Cp<sub>2</sub>V(μ-H)B(C<sub>6</sub>F<sub>5</sub>)<sub>3</sub>] (<b>1</b>) and the hydroxide complex [Cp<sub>2</sub>V(μ-OH)B(C<sub>6</sub>F<sub>5</sub>)<sub>3</sub>] (<b>2</b>), both of which have been characterized by X-ray structure determinations. Both complexes are derived from the ionization of water in the presence of B(C<sub>6</sub>F<sub>5</sub>)<sub>3</sub>.
