Much of the academic research world remains available only to
institutions that are able to pay for subscriptions to specific tools
and resources. However, over the last few years, vendors, funders, and
other organizations have developed a number of free and low-cost tools
targeted to a range of stakeholders. These tools and resources help
support users inside and beyond institutions to discover, understand and
use academic research.
