Toward a comprehensive impact report for every software project

Here we propose next steps toward a comprehensive impact report for every software project. Building on the open-source ImpactStory web application, we propose to (a) mine the bulk of the scholarly literature, (b) track downloads, installations, conversation, and reverse dependencies, and (c) present impacts in a profile integrating diverse research outputs. This will support all researchers in presenting meaningful impact evidence in tenure, promotion, and funding applications.
