This thesis explored how deformation is recorded at the microscopic and crystal scale inside deformed quartz-rich rocks of the Himalayas. Distinct structures were observed across weak and strongly deformed rocks, and across hot rocks and cold rocks, which gives insights into how the crust accommodates deformation during mountain building events such as in the Himalayas.
