The Value of the Social Sciences Survey was run by Palgrave Macmillan as part of our research into author attitudes towards the social sciences.

The survey enables us to provide the best service for our authors and keeps us close to the views of our community. It was conducted for internal purposes to provide data on social scientists' concerns.

This survey was carried out in spring 2015 as part of our Social Science Matters campaign. It included questions on topics such as key issues facing researchers, attitudes towards interdisciplinary research, and how publishers can best support academics to ensure their research has the greatest possible impact. Demographic questions were also included to enable analysis by fields such as region and subject.

This survey was not intended to be a comprehensive review of the subject, but we hope that the data gathered will be useful regardless.
